The Graduate Preparation Institute (GPI) is an intensive four-week preparation program specifically for college juniors from communities underrepresented in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The GPI program provides an excellent opportunity to learn the process of applying to graduate school. GPI students receive support with graduate school applications, personal statements, research shadowing experience, GRE seminar and graduate fellowship searches. GPI students will stay on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City, UT from June 24- July 19, 2013. The GPI program will provide room, board, travel, and a $2,000 stipend. For Students who attend one of our campuses in Utah, we will be broadcasting a workshop about taking advantage of all of the resources you can access with the USU Libraries. There are a lot of great benefits you get get from the library that you probably don't know about. All students will benefit from this presentation. Priority Registration for Summer and Fall 2013 will begin soon. Students with an outstanding balance may not be eligible to register until the account balance is paid. The earliest dates that students may register for classes are as follows: --SUMMER 2013-- April 8 All Students --FALL 2013-- April 15 Seniors (90+ earned credits) April 16 Juniors (60+ earned credits) April 17 Sophomores (30+ earned credits) April 18 Continuing Freshmen (Less than 30 earned credits) The full list of registration dates and deadlines is found at http://catalog.usu.edu/content.php?catoid=6&navoid=1191. You may select the Registration Calendar for the appropriate semester. If you do NOT plan to return to Utah State University for Summer or Fall Semester, please go to the Leave of Absence website at www.usu.edu/loa and let us know of your future plans. Scholarship Opportunity for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Students: The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Inc. (CHCI) is offering scholarship opportunities for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status students. http://www.chci.org/scholarships/ CHCI scholarships provide recipients with a one-time scholarship of: • $1,000 to pursue an associate degree • $2,500 to pursue an undergraduate degree • $5,000 to pursue graduate-level study • Eligibility Criteria: • Full-time enrollment in a United States Department of Education accredited community college, four-year university, or graduate/professional program during the period for which scholarship is requested • Demonstrated financial need • Consistent, active participation in public and/or community service activities • Strong writing skills • Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylees, or individuals who are lawfully authorized to work full-time without restriction for any U.S. employer and who, at the time of application, possess lawful evidence of employment authorization.
