About
Hola! My name is Richard Gonzalez; I was born and raised in Southern California, but lived a few childhood years in Colima, Mexico with my grandma. She taught me the value of family, friendship, community involvement, and to never settle. I am an enthusiastic leader with integrity that embraces change. I enjoy spending time with my gorgeous wife of eighteen years and our three children, riding my dirt bike and sport bike, dancing, and play World of Warcraft. I graduate with my business degree this summer and I’ll be starting my MBA this coming fall. Yes, I do speak Spanish and one of my favorite quotes is “we got this!”–George Lopez. I strongly believe that with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and the ability to embrace change one can overcome adversity.
Platform
I have been involved in Student Government for two years; it has been challenging, but refreshing. The road has been paved for the future of Student Government, but if we want to steer it in the correct direction I propose the following goals:
|
2.Training & Vision
|
3.Community Involvement | 4. Balanced Activities |
We must build a strong relationship with our students, campus staff and main campus. If we want their trust we must earn it with results. We do this by being in our “A” game i.e. having vision and being organized. Our Student Body must have the right training and leadership to bring results. We must build a positive reputation if we want to be taken serious.
Promoting clubs is a great way for student to help each other, share ideas, and even increase the chances of a better employment. Furthermore, by promoting clubs we can reach our community—word of mouth is extremely effective. Let’s utilize all the channels of communication and reach our community and local businesses. This in return can bring us greater attendance, student discounts, and much more.
Most of our campuses are non-traditional students, but we do have a growing attendance of young traditional students; therefore, we must balance our activities. We need to ask our students what activities are appealing to them. How do they want THEIR activity fees spent? Is it a BBQ, a family activity, a dance, or do they even want activities at all?—maybe we need more tutoring or other resources.
My name is Richard Gonzalez–vote for me and you will see results. www.vote.usu.edu

About
Hi, I'm Rebecca Dilg (hard ‘g’ like ‘giant’). I was born and raised in Brigham City. I completed my freshman year at BYU leaving with an MRS degree so long ago the campus doesn’t look the same. I returned to school at the USU Brigham City Regional Campus in 2000 and obtained my associate’s degree in 2009 (yes, I spent 9 years as a sophomore…). The degree helped me (just in time) to land a much-needed full-time job as the Administrative Secretary for the Box Elder County Commissioners. After a short sabbatical from school (but too long for my math classes to qualify me anymore), I dove headfirst into the Huntsman School of Business program in the fall of 2011--still working full-time. I have now reached senior status (but not quite senior citizen status) in school. I’m aiming to have a secretary work for me, someday.
My husband and I are the parents of five children. In my former life, besides being a homemaker, mother, (now grandmother), and student, I worked a few years part-time for Brigham City as the summer tennis director, at Alpine Gardens in greenhouse production, and for the Box Elder News Journal as a journalist/correspondent. When I am not working or studying, I enjoy gardening, reading, running, cross-country skiing, and playing the piano.
Today, more than ever, I see education as a valuable tool to further ourselves, (including me—even at my age), in the job market. Experience with TLC—that’s what I have to offer.
We can do it! Hey! Your mom goes to college!
Platform
If they can do it, I can, too. If we can do it, so can you.
That’s what I keep telling myself week after week, month after month, semester after semester as I have passed each of you in the hallways of the Brigham City Regional Campus on our way to classes. Each of you enters the campus classrooms with a goal in mind. We all come from various backgrounds and circumstances; many face challenges, obstacles, and hardships; yet the classrooms’ open doors promise opportunities and worlds of knowledge to be untapped and consumed.
My goal is to do what I can to help lighten your burdens, whether serving as your advocate to the campus administration, working together in a community-building project through our student government organization, or simply offering a cheery smile after your long day’s work and facing an evening of classes.
Now in my senior year, I carry many years of experience at the Brigham City Campus. Experience with TLC—that’s what I have to offer. We can do it! Hey! Your mom goes to college!

About
Candidate: My name is Dylan Beck and I am running for office to be your next Executive Vice President for Moab Regional Campus. I am a 36 year old freshman here at USU Moab Regional Campus. I am studying to obtain my degree in Business.
I have lived in Moab my whole life, and my family has been here since they settled the Valley in 1879. I am happily married and have three kids; two girls and one boy, ranging from 17-9, my son being our youngest. I enjoy making music in my home studio, hanging out with my kids, and learning new things. I am excited about going to college at this time in my life, and I plan on applying my degree in Business to help run and manage my family business here in Moab. I enjoy meeting new people and I know I can do a good job as your Executive Vice President for the Moab Center.
Platform
If elected Executive Vice President of USU Moab Campus, I would like to coordinate a study group for the local students. I also would like to assist and support the idea of providing the students attending the Moab campus a chance to join a sorority. It has been brought to my attention that the ESA EPSILON SIGMA ALPHA’S would like to extend an invitation for all USU Moab students to join. Men and women join ESA for lots of different reasons, and they come from all walks of life. I believe that providing students at the distance educational campuses the chance to experience, and to belong to a sorority, is a great opportunity. Providing the campus community a sorority like Epsilon Sigma Alpha would help make our college experience even better. The time to grow is now, so let’s do this. I would appreciate your vote.

About
My name is Hailie Sullivan, I am running for RCDE Executive Vice President. I am attending the Tooele Campus, working on a degree in business. I am the facilitator and testing center manager at USU Tooele, I have dedicated my time to USU students for almost 3 years. Being the Vice President is another way for me to continue to grow and expand our school. I feel this gives me a unique perspective into our University. I am a mother of three beautiful children and have been married for 13 years. I love to help people and strive to excel at everything I do. I am an open and friendly person and devote my time to my family and this University. I would love to represent the students of Utah State University regional sites in our local communities and in Logan.
Platform
If elected as your vice president I hope to bridge the gap at our campuses between students, staff and the community. I have been working on this in the past as a facilitator and know that as the vice president I can continue on my mission. I hope to do this by getting an open dialog between students and staff; to listen to student concerns and ideas, and then put them into action. I feel I have an advantage and a unique insight to do this because I already have an established relationship with staff and faculty.
At our RCDE campuses we have a diverse student body and I would love to see us more united. I hope to bring new traditions and student activities to all of our regional campuses.
I would love to see Utah State University as a source of pride in all of our sites, not only in our students but also in the communities all around us. I plan to do this by starting community outreach programs and let others see our USU family.
If you choose me to be your Vice President and I will be your voice and truly make a difference.

About
My name is Priscilla Deaver. I am a full-time graduate student at USU working towards a master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences. I currently teach 5th grade at King’s Peak Elementary School in Roosevelt. I enjoy reading, writing, exercising, and spending time outdoors. My husband and I have 4 children. I love living in the Uintah Basin.
Platform
When I heard there was an opportunity to go to grad school right here in the Uintah Basin, I was thrilled. The Utah State campuses in Roosevelt and Vernal are such tremendous resources for our communities. Having the opportunity to go back to school without having to relocate is important to a lot of us here, and the feeling of community at school is important to us as students. With so many students taking night classes or classes online, we need friendship and support from each other. Our families need to feel like they are a part of our educational goals.
That’s why I think getting involved to help make sure that we have this feeling of community is important. The activities planned by the student council should reflect the diverse needs of our student body. There needs to be activities for traditional young college students and for families within our community who have one or more adults going back to school. Planning the right type of activities will help make our campuses even more important to the overall community of the Uintah Basin. I think that I have the right leadership and organizational skills to help make this happen. I hope you vote for me for Vice President. Priscilla Deaver – making a difference in our community.

Hello fellow Aggies. My name is Megan Messersmith. I’m a senior majoring in FCHD. I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, but I grew up in Fort Hood, Texas, and finally ended up right here in Brigham City. I’m the youngest of 5 and the only girl which helped solidify the idea that I was in fact a princess. I have a huge passion for the arts, animals, and chocolate. I love to travel to exotic places like……Belize and Disneyland. I’m a Mom to one future princess/ballerina and she completes my heart. I have 3 dogs, two cats, and one goldfish. I have a strong belief that family is the foundation of who we are, which paves the way for my final passion, Marriage and Family Therapy. After graduation, I hope to work towards my Masters in MFT. I love the Brigham City Campus and I’m proud to call myself an Aggie.
Platform
I’m a firm believer in the power of second chances. I, like so many, was given a second chance to pursue my education. I’m a “non-traditional” student here at USU Brigham City. I have first-hand experience working with the demands non-traditional student find themselves dealing with. Not only am I pursuing my degree later in life, but I’m doing so as a single full-time Mom and student. Like so many, I attended college right out of high school, and like so many I didn’t finish. Life happens. We get married, we have children, we divorce, and college seems like the unattainable. Through persistence, determination, and the support of our families, we find ourselves walking through the doors of USU. If my story is your story, I ask you; let me be your voice. Having walked in your shoes, I’d like to represent those who make up a vast majority of our campus. I’m grateful for the opportunity to run for Campus Representative of such an exceptional campus. Most of all, I’m grateful for the possibility to work with the outstanding students that make up Brigham City USU. Let me help make your second chance at education the best possible experience. Go Aggies!

Platform
Hi everyone my name is Elisa Saurette. I am running to be your student representative. This means I would be the person responsible for planning all of our activates, clubs, and organizations! The reason I want to be your student representative is because I want us all to be more involved. I would like us to be our own campus but still get to enjoy all the activities that Logan does. I know that at our campus, most of us have jobs and live very busy lives. But when we pay our tuition, we are also paying for activities, clubs, ect. I want to put that money to good use. I would like it if we all came together as a community, when it’s convenient for everyone! I also think I would make a good student representative because I would listen to everyone’s ideas and put them to good use. The other reason I would be a good representative is that I’m not afraid to voice my opinions or stand up and voice yours! I would be here for everyone and USU and make sure I’m putting my time and effort into what activities everyone wants to do!

About
Hello! My name is Catrina Walters; I am a driven, devoted, dedicated, and spunky girl from Missouri. My husbands job led us to settle in Grantsville in 2010. Like many, I keep busy outside of school, with two young daughters, my husband of seven years and my home based business I never have a dull moment. Though, this does require managing my time and maintaining balance. I strive to give my full attention to my task at hand and be fully present with those around me. After all, I always want to present my best work, right down to the perfect outfit for Barbie. I believe that my experiences with running my own business, as well as having previous experience working with campus activities, has given me insight into what it takes to have a successful and fun school year. I love Tooele USU and want to work to bring out the full potential of the campus and students.
Platform
I am a hard-working individual that never gives up. I strive for excellence in all that I do, and I want to extend that to USU Tooele. Working for the benefit of others has always been a passion of mine. This is why I had been involved with student government, volunteer work, and event planning in my hometown of Warrensburg, Missouri. I am excited to get involved here at the USU Tooele campus, using my past experiences to help maximize our campus' potential. As a Campus Representative, I will work with others to plan and organize different events on and off campus to promote spirit and unity while providing a balance for traditional and non-traditional students.
Most importantly, I will be a voice of reason during business with administration, making sure that the student’s voice is heard. I am committed and will serve the students to make their time here positive and constructive. Unity is the key to success! I have many new ideas and experience in establishing new clubs and programs. I will implement fun events, service projects, educational opportunities and clubs to encourage a unified student body. I am determined to be an honorable leader in strengthening the bond between the traditional and non-traditional student as well as the student-staff relations.

About
When I moved to Roosevelt I had just graduated from high school. I had made no decisions of where or if I would go to a college or University.
After adjusting to the town and learning my way around, I was impressed by the Utah State Campus and the opportunity it gave not only me but all of us. It took me a semester to get up enough nerve to apply and sign up for classes. I can say that I used as much help as I could get from the staff on campus. They helped me get registered for classes and helped me set up a schedule with classes I needed to work toward a major.
Later I decided to become a Math Education Major and again needed the help to take the required classes to graduate from Utah State. I have now attended for almost a year and a half.
I decided to get involved with student government because I want to help others as they try to get started here. I hope to help make life interesting and a place where people can feel at home and welcome.
I’m am a hard worker, and am willing to do what it takes to accomplish common goals for the student body at Utah State University Uintah Basin Campus
