Sociology Education Minor

Availability

Requirements

Students must achieve a minimum grade of C- in all courses counted for the minor. A 2.5 GPA is required in Sociology courses applied toward the minor. At least 50% of coursework must be completed at USU.

Required Courses: (12 credits required)

  • Sociology 1010 Introductory Sociology(3)
  • Sociology 3010 Race, Class and Gender (3)
  • Sociology 3110 Methods of Social Research (3)
  • Sociology 4010 Contemporary Sociological Theory (3)

Electives: (6 credits)

Students must also complete an additional 6 credits of course work in sociology. These courses should be selected with the assistance and approval of each student's advisor.

Sociology is the study of the human individual and human groups. Sociology systematically describes and explains group behavior, the interaction of the individual with the group, and the interactions of groups with each other. Sociology offers a broad foundation for understanding human behavior and encourages the development of critical thinking.
