Mission & Goals

Mission Statement

The USU Dietetic Internship mission is to provide a supervised practice to qualified DPD graduates in either a Utah-based program or in a distance format for those applicants who are location-bound training them for administrative positions in Child Nutrition Programs, school foodservice management or for entry-level positions in dietetics.

Program Goals and Measurable Outcomes

Program Goal: Provide a supervised practice in dietetics for DPD graduates of Utah State University. 
  • Outcome measure: up to 10 students from Utah State University undergraduate program will be preselected in a CADE approved process for the dietetic internship.

 

Program Goal: USU DI will prepare graduates to work in Child Nutrition Programs, school foodservice management or administrative dietetics. 
  • Outcome measure: Decision makers in school districts where USU interns train will perceive USU DI graduates as qualified for positions in CNP in their district.
  • Outcome measure: 25% of graduates will have a positive perception of CNP and school lunch foodservice as a viable career opportunity.
  • Outcome measure: The percentage of graduates who obtain employment in CNP and school lunch will continue to increase.

 

Program Goal: Ensure that all interns will complete the program. 

  • Outcome measure: Program completion rate will be 100%

 

Program Goal: Prepare graduates to be competent entry-level dietitians. 
  • Outcome Measure: 80% of graduates sitting for the Registration Examination for Dietitians for the first time will pass.
  • Outcome Measure: Graduates will score at or above the national mean for total, Nutrition and Foodservice Mange scaled scores.
  • Outcome Measure: Interns will achieve a rating of ≥3 on final rotation evaluations for the USU Internship.
  • Outcome measure: The rating of “how well prepared was (person) for the position of entry-level dietitian?” from >90% employers will give graduates in their employ the rating of at least “competent” on surveys.
