Summer Credit Workshops
Get more out of your summer with Summer Credit Workshops at the USU campus in Logan. These short courses provide you a way to earn USU credit without taking up your entire summer or being formally admitted to the university. They are a great way to get ahead in your classes or simply expand your knowledge of the world around you.
The Summer Credit Workshops will begin at different times during the summer beginning on May 7th and run through August 10th. Courses range from 1-3 credits and typically last only one week. Topics range from creative and technical writing to the study of African or Chinese geography. There are even courses in improving teaching and basic video production. So take advantage of this great opportunity and register for a course today. Registration for summer credit workshops begins April 9.
Tuition Information
Summer students attending workshops will pay a set per credit hour tuition. Students must review the credit information at the beginning of each workshop description, total the credits, and then refer to the tuition table to calculate tuition payment. Special fees are also applicable for workshops, in addition to tuition and registration fees. Carefully review the workshop schedule to determine the amount of each workshop fee. Workshop fees must be paid at the time tuition fee payment is made. All payments for university credit are payable at the Registrar's Office, Taggart Student Center (TSC), room 246 or via Banner. Tuition/Fee increments accumulate separately for off campus courses and conferences. Off-campus tuition/fees and/or conference fees cannot be added into tuition chart increments. All students will pay resident tuition during summer semester.
Workshop Refunds/Cancellation
Students withdrawing from a workshop on or before the first scheduled day of class will receive a full tuition refund. Students withdrawing the second day of the workshop will receive a 50 percent refund. No refunds will be made after the second day of the workshop. Workshops may be canceled due to lack of enrollment or other conflicts. If a cancellation does occur, all participants will be notified in advance. Tuition and fees will be refunded if a workshop is cancelled by Regional Campuses and Distance Education. The university is not responsible for any charges assessed by airlines, travel agencies, or other institutions due to cancellation/change.
Withdrawal Policy
Students may drop workshops without notation on the permanent record through the first 20 percent of the workshop. If a student drops following the first 20 percent of the workshop, a "W" is permanently affixed to the student's record. After 60 percent of the workshop is completed, the student's academic advisor must sign any drop request, and a "W" with a grade assigned by the instructor will be entered on the student's permanent record. A student may not drop a workshop after 75 percent of the class is completed.
Pass/D+, D, F option
A student desiring a "pass" instead of a regular grade in a workshop, must complete a pass/fail form and turn it in to the Registrar's Office, TSC 246. Pass/fail forms will be available at the first day of the workshop or can be completed prior to the first day by visiting the Registrar's Office, TSC 246.
Audit Registration Policy
In order to audit a workshop, (attend a workshop without receiving credit), the student must obtain approval from the Summer Credit Workshop program administrator (435.797.9700), or the workshop instructor, before registering. No credit will be allowed for such attendance and regular tuition and fees will still be assessed.
Participant Regulations
Utah residents 62 years of age or older, university employees, and employee spouses are permitted to audit workshops at a reduced rate. However, space in many of the workshops is limited. Workshops that are full at the time of an audit request are unavailable. Credit-seeking, full tuition-paying students shall have first priority in the registration process. To obtain a faculty/staff audit form, students must go to Personnel Services located on the northwest corner of 1200 E and 700 N.
Fee Payment Deadline
Friday, April 20th is the fee payment deadline for payment made by mail. Friday, April 27th is the fee payment deadline for online or in person payments. There will be one purge April 28th-29th. Students with unpaid balances may be dropped from all courses.
